CSCS

CSCS was established in 1995 with the prime objective of helping the construction industry to improve quality, decrease accidents and deter the so called "cowboy" builder element which blights the industry. Since then sound progress has been made, with over 1 million CSCS competency cards being issued to individuals which have formally proved their competency and awareness of health and safety, a positive move for them their employers and clients alike coupled with the wellbeing and productivity of the industry.

Certified Individuals are recognised by showing the CSCS pass card with a traceable number.

CHAS

CHAS compliance means the company has demonstrated adequate compliance with current legislation and sound management of Health & Safety. The CHAS Scheme Manager is employed by and operates from Merton Council. He is answerable to a National Management Group that consists of safety and procurement professionals from 12 regions covering the UK. There are representatives from the Trades Unions (UCATT and GMB), Trades Associations and a legal adviser. The group work within its own constitution, a copy of which can be obtained from the CHAS scheme Manager. Proof of accreditation can also be sought from the scheme manager.

CHAS Certificate

Whether you are commissioning
complex construction projects with a
capital expenditure of millions or simple
maintenance work it is pertinent to
ensure that the operators carrying out
the projects are competent and will not
endanger the health and safety of the
people on or near the site. The construction design and management regulations 2007 (CDM) also require that clients ensure that their appointed contractors are competent to undertake the contracts they are let. Indeed more and more clients are insisting that only CSCS carded contractors are allowed on site.
